LIVINGSTON COUNTY – The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office is offering a chance for parents to check their car seats to make sure they are properly installed and adjusted.
Sheriff Thomas Dougherty advises that the Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a Child Safety Seat Checkpoint in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Livingston County at the New York State Department of Transportation, 5543 Geneseo Lakeville Road, Geneseo/Lakeville, on Saturday, March 7 from 10a.m. until 2p.m.
“As always, we need to try and protect our children from injury and death as much as possible,” said Sheriff Dougherty. “Something as simple as a properly installed car seat may make that difference. We also need to make sure that our children are in the proper type of car seat for their height and weight not just for their age.”
The public is welcome and encouraged to stop in and have their child safety seats checked to make sure they are safe and installed properly in the vehicle by certified police technicians.
If you know you are planning on attending, please call Sheriff’s Deputy Tim Sweeting at 585-243-7921 and advise how many car seats you need checked. However, the Sheriff added that you can also feel free to just stop by.
