CALEDONIA: Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of two on drug related charges after a traffic stop.
On June 26, 2019 Deputy Michael Donals stopped a vehicle on Telephone Road in the Town of Caledonia for a violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law. The Deputy Sheriff identified the driver of the vehicle as 42 year old Amber M. Torregrossa from York NY and a passenger in the vehicle as 29 year old James L. Horne from Mount Morris NY. The Deputy Sheriff suspected that the vehicle occupants were involved with drug activity and conducted a roadside drug investigation.
Deputy Connor Sanford and Deputy Michael Wade along with his narcotics certified K-9 partner Hondo, responded to the scene to assist.
The roadside investigation revealed that Torregrossa was in possession of fentanyl along with hypodermic needles. Horne was found to be in possession of crack cocaine along with a smoking device. Torregrossa was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument. Horne was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia. Both Torregrossa and Horne were turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.
Torregrossa and Horne were later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Mount Morris Justice David Provo. The Judge remanded Torregrossa to the custody of the Sheriff on $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond. Horne was remanded to the custody of the Sheriff on $200 cash bail or $1,000 bond.
