AVON – Two men were arrested for charges including Contempt, False Personation, and drug charges after they were pulled over and it was discovered that an order of protection forbid them from having any contact with each other.

According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, on Sunday May 24 at approximately 12:18 a.m., Deputy Shawn Whitford of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office conducted a vehicle and traffic stop on Interstate 390 in the Town of Avon for a minor traffic offense, and the operator of the vehicle was identified as Francis Shattuck Jr., 30, of Cuba, NY, and the passenger, later identified as Juan Rosario-Ortiz, 27, of Lakeville, gave a false name to police.
It was discovered through investigation that a complete stay away order of protection was in place that ordered Shattuck to have no contact at all with Rosario-Ortiz. Also, a search of the vehicle produced a small amount of cocaine and marihuana.
Both men were taken into custody and transported to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office. Rosario-Ortiz was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, one count of False Personation, as he lied about his identity roadside. Rosario-Ortiz was also charged with Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. Rosario-Ortiz is scheduled for Avon Town Court on June 16, 2015.
Shattuck Jr. was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, one count of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree as well as other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. Shattuck Jr. was taken to Avon Town Court and arraigned. Shattuck Jr. was later remanded to the custody of the Sheriff in lieu of $1500.00 dollars cash bail. Shattuck Jr. is scheduled to appear in Avon Town Court on June 16, 2015.
The investigation was handled by Deputy Shawn Whitford of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, assisting him was Deputy Brandan Flickner of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
