LIVINGSTON COUNTY — Roll up your sleeves, because Livingston County politics are about to get very interesting. There are three Town Board races and an unopposed new candidate in the Town of Leicester.
These new faces have huge potential to shake up the top of the County’s political landscape. Last year, Eric Gott was appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors in a weighted vote by the narrowest of margins. The last-minute switch of Lisa Semmel, the outgoing Town of Leicester Supervisor, was just enough to put Gott over Will Wadsworth, Town Supervisor of Geneseo who is running unopposed this year.
All eyes will be on the new candidates and who they appoint as Chairman of the Board of Supervisors.
“After I won the caucus, Eric Gott was the first and only county official to call me and congratulate me,” said David Fanaro, who is now running unopposed for the Leicester Town Supervisor position and will likely replace Semmel. “At this point, I don’t know enough about either to make a decision. I’m going to keep an open mind and learn. If I did know who I wanted to vote for, I would tell you.”
Other Town Board Races are shaping up to be lively as well. In Groveland, Lou Lombardo (D) is running against Bill Carman. Deborah Babbitt Henry ( R ) is running against Norbert Buckly (Community Vision) for Springwater Town Supervisor. Greg Keagy (D) is running against Susan Erdle for West Sparta Town Supervisor.
This is who Livingston County’s Towns voted for in the 2015 Chairman of the Board of Supervisors:
