GENESEO — Decorations for the holiday season are soon to be hung as the Geneseo Merchant Association (GMA) and Village Board of Trustees are working together to make this season special.
Spring Morrow, owner of Frugal Fashionista, along with four other members of the Geneseo Merchant’s Association planned with the Geneseo Board of Trustees to decide the decorations that will be adorning Geneseo Main Street this holiday season.
“The goal is to have more lights on the trees,” said Spring Morrow, owner of Frugal Fashionista. “We hope to have the most spectacular decorations in the county in the near future to continue with a theme and build on it year after year.”
In the next couple of weeks, one can expect to see the snowflake themed decorations in the window displays of these local businesses.
“The GMA is alive again and the businesses are coming together,” said Kate Kingsley co-op member of the Not Dot Shop. “We’re having a great time.”
Most of the lights on Main Street will be lit up on Saturday December 7, when the Geneseo Merchants Association sponsors the “Christmas in the Village and Christmas Sing” event. The event is from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Main Street in Geneseo.
The “Christmas in the Village” is free to the public and will include wagon rides through the Homestead, a live nativity at the Big Tree, a meet and greet with Santa, and of course, the “Christmas Sing” at 5:30p.m.
This year, two a capella groups from SUNY Geneseo, Hips and Harmony and Southside Boys, were asked to be a part of the sing.
