The arrest came about as the result of a report of someone trespassing at a commercial business in Dansville. He had entered the business after being told he was not allowed there. One of the employees already had a Stay Away Order of Protection against VanSkiver, and it was learned that VanSkiver had already been convicted of a previous order of protection within the last five years, making this violation a felony.
. On May 15th, 2023, Vanskiver was located by Deputies and was taken into custody in regard to the trespass and violation of the order of protection. While taking Vanskiver into custody, Deputies found methamphetamine on his person, resulting in the additional drug possession charges.
Vanskiver was transported and turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. The District Attorney’s Office was contacted in regards to bail due to the felony level charges. It was recommended that Vanskiver be held on $5,000 cash/credit or $25,000 secured bond. Vanskiver was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Justice Kenney.
The Judge remanded Vanskiver to the custody of the Sheriff, setting bail at $2,500 cash or credit or $15,000 secured bond. The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office was present and represented Vanskiver at the court arraignment for his defense. The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office was notified but did not appear.
