DANSVILLE – A Dansville man pled guilty on Tuesday to biting and brutally beating two other men in the face with a pool ball in a bar on Main Street in Dansville.
Gregory Smith, 26, is now charged with attempted assault after a heated confrontation apparently escalated between himself and two others, Joshua Stewart and Justin Schlerdor, at the Hammerheads Tavern on Main Street in May. The situation ultimately ended with Smith grabbing a pool ball and attacking Stewart and Schlerdor with it.
“The three definitely know each other,” said Assistant District Attorney Marty Anderson. “Smith had the pool ball in his hand and hit the victims in the face with it. He also bit them.”
Livingston County District Attorney Greg McCaffrey’s carefully calculated charge against Smith currently stands at Attempted Assault, a felony.
Orders of protection were put in place for victims Stewart and Schlerdor, who were not charged with any crimes that night.
County Judge Robert Wiggins revoked Smith’s bail. Smith is currently being held at the Livingston County Jail, where he awaits further court hearings.
