DANSVILLE — A Mount Morris man was caught in the middle of an attempted burglary by a homeowner in Dansville and was then run down by Village Police Officers.
According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Richard Mincer, 25, was allegedly in a Highland Avenue homeowner’s garage when the homeowner returned. Mincer then fled the scene on foot, where Dansville Police Officer Bryan Chapman and Livingston County Sheriff Deputy Arick Perkins nabbed the suspect.
Sheriff Dougherty states that Mincer was charged by Deputies on scene with one count of Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree and Obstructing Governmental Administration when he allegedly failed to comply with a lawful order from a police officer. Mincer was arraigned in North Dansville Court and remanded to the custody of the Sheriff in lieu of $2,000 cash bail or $4,000 secured bond.
Mincer was later charged with Burglary in the Second Degree and additional bail was set at $5,000 cash $10,000 bond. Mincer continues to be held in the Livingston County Jail. He will appear back in North Dansville Town Court at a later date.
The initial incident was investigated by Deputies Arick Perkins and Kevin Geer of the Sheriff’s Office, as well as Officer Bryan Chapman of the Dansville Police Department. The secondary investigation was handled by Deputy David Richardson.
