According to a press release from Dansville Police Chief Charles Perkins, James Bennett, 39, of Dansville had fired his weapon on West Street and a Police Officer nearby responded to peacefully resolve the dangerous situation.
Dansville Police Officer Bryan Chapman was on patrol when he heard the shots fired in the Village and responded to the home where Bennett was standing, armed.
Bennett complied with the orders to drop his weapon and was charged with reckless endangerment, menacing, and possession of a weapon. He is being held on $10,000 bail and order of protection issued for the victim.
Apparently Bennett had become enraged during an earlier phone call and showed up to the house, pointed the weapon into the occupied home, then shooting rounds into the ground and a nearby shed. At this point no word on what started the argument.
