DANSVILLE — Dansville Central School District has received approval for a school resource officer out of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department.
After much deliberation at the Livingston County Public Services meeting on September 4, a contract has been signed by the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors for a Livingston County School Resource Officer for the Dansville Central School District.
A motion was made at the Public Services meeting pending a conversation between Charles Perkins, Police Chief for the Village of Dansville, and Paul Alioto, Superintendent of the Dansville Central School District explaining why it is preferred to not have a Village of Dansville Officer as their resource officer.
“Alioto went to the Dansville Village Board and explained why he preferred to have a Livingston County Deputy Sheriff as the school’s resource officer,” said Ian Coyle, Livingston County Administrator. “He fulfilled his obligation and that was all that we asked for.”
The amount that is contracted for the school’s resource officer is budgeted at $71,125.00.
The term for a Livingston County Resource Officer is one year, starting July 1, 2013 until June 30, 2014.
