DANSVILLE – Dansville’s annual Festival of Balloons takes flight this weekend, marking 35 years celebrating the big, buoyant aircraft.
According to a press release from the Dansville Festival of Balloons, they anticipate six balloon launches, weather dependent.
“Along with beautiful weather, this year’s festival is likely to be ranked as one of the best yet,” said the Festival in the release. “Join us for this exciting tradition! Be a part of this annual tradition with the beautiful sight of hot air balloons gracefully floating through our majestic valley.”
The weekend begins with a Kick Off Party on Friday, Sept. 2 at 4 p.m. with music by local favorites, Lucky Number, food, arts and craft vendors, and the weekend’s first official balloon launch.
Saturday and Sunday will have events all day.
On Saturday, Talons! A Bird of Prey Experience will bring live hawks, owls, falcons and other raptors from noon to 4 p.m. This will be ‘Jazz Saturday,’ so The Southern Tier All Star Band will play at 2 p.m. and Full Swing will play at 6 p.m.
On Sunday, the annual classic car show will go from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will be ‘Bluegrass Sunday,’ so Sonic Landscape will play at 1 p.m., Dutch Hollow Band will play at 3 p.m. and Blind Owl Band will play at 4 p.m.
Each day will begin and end with hot air balloon launches, weather dependent. Launches are about 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Hot air balloon rides as well as tethered balloon rides are also available.
Daily admission is $5 per person, including parking, with children 12 and under free.
