DANSVILLE – Dansville’s Main Street art gallery and event center will turn one next week and has planned several ways for its creative friends to celebrate.
According to a press release from Dansville Artworks, over 100 children and adults have attended workshops over the past year. A total of 120 regional artists have shared their talents by exhibiting, consigning, or teaching, and 50 free community events were offered, from author visits to storytelling to networking mixers. The group also hosted its fifth annual Chalk Walk & ArtsFest, which saw a 40% increase in attendance.
“When we reflected on our offerings and the community’s participation, we were amazed to see the numbers,” said Nicole Alioto, President of Dansville ArtWorks. “The growth in public awareness and involvement is significant and gratifying. We have more to offer and are excited to launch into our second year of operations.”
There will be free (though donations are appreciated) special events at the gallery at 178 Main Street on Sept. 8, 9 and 10.
On Sept. 8, the Fall Exhibit will opening with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. New 2 and 3D artwork from local artists will be on display. Light refreshments will be served.
Sept. 9 will be Make it and Take it – Open Makerspace day. ArtWorks will provide the supplies and visitors will create their own art pieces.
Finally, Sept. 10 will be the One Year Celebration Party from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be art demonstrations, music, hourly specials, hourly giveaways, cake, and more.
An anonymous donor will match up to $500 in donations received between now and Sept. 10.
