LIVINGSTON COUNTY – District Attorney Greg McCaffrey gave the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) a run for their money last Wednesday when he voluntarily participated in their fundraiser, “MDA Executive Lock Up 2014.”
McCaffrey agreed to be “locked up” in the Valley Oaks Event Center on Lakeville Road in Geneseo as part of the fundraiser, so that donors to the charity would have to post so-called “bail money.” Though it wasn’t real jail, McCaffrey’s bail amount was set quite high, and donors opened their hearts to fund Muscular Dystrophy research, raising over $1400 in just over one week.
“It’s for a good cause,” said McCaffrey. “Plus I had great support. They ‘got me out’ in about an hour.”
The MDA website applauds McCaffrey for sailing past the $800 mark in one week. Though he has already met this benchmark, the door is still wide open for donations up to $2400.
McCaffrey continued to operate his office throughout the hour that he was participating in the charity “lock up.”
