NYLON – CVS Pharmacy will soon offer Naloxone, a potentially life-saving emergency opioid overdose antidote, with no prescription required.
According to our news partner 13WHAM, about 500 CVS locations across the state will start selling Naloxone.
Anyone who uses Naloxone in an emergency is urged to get to a hospital as soon as possible, before the drug’s effects wear off.
Free citizen training and instructions are available to administer Naloxone, which is delivered as a nasal spray.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and local police departments are currently equipped with Naloxone and trained to administer it.
A letter from Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s Office in February 2015 dropped the price of Naloxone.
