The festival kicked off Friday, with the 5k Run and Walk, to benefit The Kade Project, a fund set up to help benefit the community in memory of U.S. Marine Kade O’Brian. A Kick Off Dinner followed the walk and the night concluded with a fireworks display at 10:00pm.
A Basketball Tournament to benefit the new Veterans Memorial went on all day Saturday from 9:00am to 4:30pm, while the arts and crafts show also began that morning and continued through Sunday.
Saturday was kids day, stated Bill Lane, a 16-year-old veteran of the festival, and the chair for the committee that runs the event. Many activities were organized throughout the day for children to participate in, including a Coin Dig at noon, a Frog Jumping contest at 4:30pm, and a Pie Eating Contest at 5:00pm.
Live entertainment started in the morning with the Young School of Irish Dance, and lasted in evening, ending with Steve Grills and the Roadmasters at 8:00pm.
The Arts and Crafts show, as well as the Live Entertainment continued through Fathers Day Sunday. The One room School House in the park was open for visitors all afternoon, presented by the Historical Society Museum.
The festival came to a close at 5:00pm, with a performance from the Community Concert Band.
“It’s a great community activity,” said Lane “It’s a chance for the people in the community to come out celebrate their community, and meet their neighbors.”
