AVON – A Livingston County Deputy Sheriff who stopped to help a disabled vehicle on 390 wound up arresting the driver, a Dansville woman, for allegedly possessing crack.
According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Ashley King, 23, was arrested for misdemeanor Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and a registration violation.
On Dec. 19, Deputy Brandan Flickner of the Sheriff’s STOP DWI Unit was southbound on Interstate 390 when he observed a disabled motor vehicle on the shoulder and stopped to help the driver, King. Her vehicle was out of fuel.
During the course of the investigation, the vehicle was also found to have a suspended registration due to an insurance lapse since Oct. 31, 2016.
King was found to be in possession of two plastic baggies containing what is believed to be crack cocaine.
Deputies took King into custody.
On Dec. 20, Avon Town Justice Peter Piampiano arraigned King and ordered her held at the Livingston County Jail on $500 cash or $1,000 bond.
