According to New York State’s COVID Alert NY application, the positivity rate for COVID-19 is steadily decreasing across New York State and in Livingston County. As of January 30, 2021, the percent tested positive dropped to 4.44% in New York State and 2.24% in Livingston County. The Livingston County Department of Health (LCDOH) reports that, as of February 1, 2021, there are 136 active cases of COVID-19 in the county.
Livingston County’s Director of Public Health, Jennifer Rodriguez, commented, “Even as we begin to see a decrease in positive COVID-19 cases, it is important for all community members to remain vigilant. We strongly encourage everyone to continue following COVID-19 safety protocols – wear masks, wash your hands, continue social distancing, and stay home if you are sick – to help slow the spread of the virus.”
Sadly, two more COVID-19-related resident deaths have recently been reported at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation (CNR), bringing the total number of resident deaths to ten.
“We continue to mourn the loss of CNR residents who have lost their battle with the COVID-19 virus,” stated Stephen Woodruff, CNR’s Director of Long-Term Care. “Our hearts are with their families, friends and loved ones during this difficult time.”
In January 2021, two out of three COVID-19 vaccine clinics for CNR residents and staff were held. The third clinic will be on February 17, 2021.
