LIMA – New York State Police arrested a Lima resident for DWI after they allegedly saw her car crash into three mailboxes.
According to a press release from New York State Police, Laura Leonard, 82, was arrested for misdemeanor Driving while Intoxicated, misdemeanor Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident and traffic violations including Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign and Moving from Lane Unsafely.
On Feb. 19 at about 6:20 p.m., a Trooper from SP Lima allegedly observed a Mercury Grand Marquis northbound on Elm Street in the Village of Lima fail to stop at a stop sign and ran off the road on Seneca Ave, striking three mailboxes.
The vehicle continued on and pulled into a driveway on Seneca Ave. The Trooper stopped the car and identified the driver as Leonard. Further investigation alleges that Leonard was intoxicated and she was arrested misdemeanor DWI.
Leonard was released and scheduled to appear in Lima Village Court at a later date.
