CONESUS – The Livingston County Coalition of Patrol Services (LC COPS) hosted the sixth annual COPS for Kids day on Saturday at Long Point Park.
Deputies served popcorn, hot dogs, pizza and ice cream while kids enjoyed balloon animals, karaoke, a mechanical bull, a dunking booth, a petting zoo, pony rides, and giant bounce houses.
“This year’s event was extremely successful and busy for us,” said Deputy Phyllis Applin with the Sheriff’s Office’s Civil Division. “Everyone always has a great time. There’s always plenty to do thanks to everyone who helps put this together.”
COPS for Kids day has its roots in 1959, when The Livingston County Deputy Sheriffs Association first hosted an annual “Kiddies Day” at Long Point.
Though the event was discontinued in the 1970’s, LC COPS brought back the tradition in 2010.
Proceeds from the LC COPS reverse draw and golf tourney fund all activities, so children’s admission is always free.
