YORK – New York State Police arrested a LeRoy resident for allegedly carrying a felony amount of cocaine on Rte. 63 in a car that had its headlights off.
According to a press release from State Police Troop E Major Richard Allen, Benjamin Hilton, 28, was arrested for felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, which is a violation.
A Trooper stopped a Chevy Equinox for allegedly having no plate lamps and driving 56 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone on 63.
The Trooper alleges that the odor of marijuana was emanating from the vehicle. Further investigation alleges that Hilton was in possession of two marijuana cigarettes and two glassine baggies containing cocaine. Together, the baggies contained approximately 1.5 grams of what is believed to be cocaine.
Troopers took Hilton into custody.
A Caledonia Town Justice arraigned Hilton and ordered him held at the Livingston County Jail on $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond.
