LIVINGSTON COUNTY – The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Geneseo resident when they found what is believed to be heroin in a pack of cigarettes he allegedly threw from his car.
According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Timothy Mayeu, 50, was arrested for felony Tampering with Physical Evidence, misdemeanor Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and misdemeanor Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the Second Degree and traffic tickets for Unlicensed Operator, Operating a Vehicle with No Insurance, and Operating a Vehicle with a Suspended Registration.
On April 22, Deputy Shawn Whitford was assigned to the Sheriff’s Office initiative ‘Operation Safe Interstate’ on 390 and stopped a vehicle for an alleged vehicle and traffic law violation. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Mayeu. It was found that Mayeu’s license had been revoked for a previous DWI conviction. It was also confirmed that the vehicle registration was suspended for not having insurance.
As a result, Mayeu was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation. However, prior to his arrest, Mayeu allegedly threw a pack of cigarettes away from him. Investigating deputies allege in that the pack of cigarettes contained three bags of heroin.
Mayeu was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.
Avon Town Justice Michael Torregiano arraigned Mayeu and went along with the recommendation of the District Attorney’s Office to remand him to the Livingston County Jail without bail due to prior felony convictions.
