LIVINGSTON COUNTY The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Perry resident on a felony charge alleging that he ate drugs about to be seized at a traffic stop.

According to a press release from Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Kenneth Shearing Jr., 35, was arrested for felony Tampering with Physical Evidence.
On April 13, 2017 Deputy Shawn Whitford, who is detailed to the Sheriff’s Office initiative Operation Safe Interstate, was dispatched to check on a car that was reportedly driving all over the road. The Deputy found the vehicle and stopped it vehicle for an alleged traffic law violation.
Whitford alleges that as he approached the vehicle and requested the driver’s license, a foil wrapper fall out of the driver’s wallet. Whitford further alleges that when he asked the man what was in the foil and the driver opened it, what Whitford believed was a strip of Suboxone, a controlled substance, was revealed. The operator allegedly put that strip in his mouth and ate it.
Suboxone is a controlled substance and requires a prescription to possess.
Whitford took Shearing into custody for Tampering with Physical Evidence.
Shearing was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.
Lima Town Justice Elvira Luhowy arraigned Shearing and ordered him held at the Livingston County Jail on $1,500 cash or $3,000 bond at the recommendation of the District Attorney’s Office.
