According to news partner 13WHAM, Paul Markwitz, President of the Teamsters Union based in Rochester, says that besides being a huge asset to the company, the Avon plant is the only plant within Kraft to make Cool-Whip.
“It’s favorably situated logistically to service the consumer base within its business,” said Markwitz. “It’s also the only Cool-Whip producing facility within the entire Company.”
Avon Town Supervisor David LeFeber said that if the plant were to close, everything from taxes to property assessments would be affected.
The Avon plant employs 400 people. Kraft said 540 additional employees work at the Walton and Campbell locations.
