LIVINGSTON COUNTY – The subject of the first ‘Warrant of the Week’ issued on Monday by Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty turned himself in on Wednesday and was arrested and charged with Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree.
According to Sheriff Dougherty, Robert Newland, of Dansville, turned himself in after the community provided the Sheriff’s Office and Dansville Police with good information.
“The Warrant of the Week was created to engage the community in helping us locate wanted persons in our county,” said Sheriff Dougherty. “The community did just that and provided good information and the subject turned himself in. The partnership we have with the people we serve is what leads to safer communities, and we will continue to build on that.”
Sheriff Dougherty announced the new campaign on Monday that is designed to help in locate subjects of warrants using information from the community.
If anyone has information on Warrants of the Week or other warrants or concerns, they can contact the Sheriff’s Office at (585) 243-7100 and remain anonymous if they wish.
