Cohocton is mourning the loss of their police chief, Kerry Pebbles, who passed away at Strong Memorial Hospital on Sunday, October 3, at the age of 64, surrounded by family.
Pebbles, the of son of Don and Dolores (Dee) Pebbles of Wayland, NY, was a lifelong resident of Wayland, and was active in many community organizations, and was well known in the community. He worked for many different police organizations throughout the local area including the Dansville Police Department, Bath Police Department, and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department. Prior to becoming Cohocton Police chief, he was a past chief of the Wayland Police Department. He had trained with the FBI and DEA and worked at Wayland-Cohocton Central School assisting with student discipline. He was also a Wayland Village Justice.as well as a past member of the Wayland Lions Club, and the Wayland Town Board. He was a current member of the Cohocton Legion, the Association of Police Chiefs, Sons of American Legion and the Dansville Moose Club.
Funeral arrangements are being made at the George Stanton Funeral Home of Wayland.
