AVON – An Avon man has been charged with Felony Rape in the first Degree, an A-II felony, for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13 for over 6 years.
According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Richard L. Christiano, 57, was charged yesterday and is being held without bail.

Christiano was arrested for the Felony of Rape in the First Degree (a class B Felony), Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child (a class A-II Felony), and Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree (a class B Felony).
Christiano was taken before Justice Piampiano of the Village of Avon where he was then remanded to the custody of the Sheriff and is being held in the Livingston County Jail with no possibility of bail due to the severity of the charges. If found guilty, he faces a potential sentence of 10-25 years in state prison.
According to Sheriff Dougherty the Criminal Investigations Division of the Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident with Sheriff’s Investigators Josh Monster and Dan Rittenhouse leading. Assisting with the investigation were the Livingston County Child Protective Services and the Livingston County District Attorney’s office.
