LIVINGSTON COUNTY – The County is readying for the day of remembering one of the most important demographics of citizens to protect and care for: children.
The 13th annual Child Safety Fair is scheduled for Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Dansville Central School Elementary Gym.
The day includes many popular family safety activities and demonstrations courtesy of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Livingston County, and Noyes Health.
The day will feature door prizes, games for all ages with free prizes, and timely demonstrations in preparation for summer, including wheeled safety by State Police, boat and water safety by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office boat patrol, and presentations by master gardeners.
The Eastman Institute for Health-Smile Mobile will also be in attendance. Other participating organizations include Focus on the Children, Chances & Changes, Mental Health Association, Noyes Health, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Boat Patrol, and Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC).
The New York State Police will bring their rollover simulator and the Dansville Community Center will offer DNA Kits.
Winners of the wheeled sport safety coloring and writing contest will be announced and presented with their new bike and properly fitted helmet.
Many programs are made possible by funding by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration with a grant from the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, in collaboration with the Livingston County Traffic Safety Board and partial funding from the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Livingston County and donations.
