JACKSONVILLE — Livingston County native, Mount Morris resident and SUNY Geneseo Alumnus Tim Chichester ran the race of a lifetime at the Jacksonville Bank Half Marathon Sunday morning, qualifying for the Olympic trials.
Chichester, 27, ran a 1:04:56 half time, meeting the qualifications by 4 seconds after 13.1 miles.
“1:04:56 Still can’t believe it. Thanks for everyone that has supported me. Olympic trials in 6 weeks!” said Chichester in a Facebook post.
Chichester has continued to impress throughout his running career. He had an epic Boston marathon finish and most recently was 15th overall at the TCS New York City Marathon.
Chichester averaged 4:57 pace per mile to qualify.
Chichester will join Galen Rupp, Meb Keflezighi and other elite American runners on Feb. 13 at the Los Angeles Marathon.
