GENESEO – The Limelight & Accents 2014-2015 Performing Arts Series will be hosting a performance Saturday, November 8 at the Wadsworth Auditorium on the SUNY Campus. The Chicago Tap Theatre, a professional tap dancing group from Chicago, will be performing at the Auditorium.
The performance was coordinated by students Sarah Dukler and Paige Cuddihy of the Limelight & Access group of SUNY Geneseo. The group has been bringing quality performances to SUNY Geneseo for over 40 years, giving students and community members a chance to expand their views of different cultures and the arts.
“We get a majority of our audience from the community, a large number of them get the season pass for performances,” said SUNY Geneseo Junior Sarah Dukler, a Coordinator for the performance. “This is their (Chicago Tap Theatre’s) first time here. They’re very excited.”
Dukler added that the Tap Theatre is filled with very experienced dancers and musicians alike. The team will perform alongside live music from some of Chicago’s finest musicians, with their playlist ranging from Duke Ellington to David Bowie.
Dukler said that the Tap Theatre will bring players for a double base, violinists, and keyboard players,
“This performance helps to fill a niche in performing arts without going to Rochester,” said Dianne Krenzer, Manager of Ticket Office . “This group has not been here before, but similar groups have had great turnouts between students and the community.”
