GENESEO – A historic water valve under Main Street in Geneseo received a touch-up on Wednesday, the morning of New Year’s Eve, at the hands of local Main Street developer Don Livingston and a water maintenance crew.
On Dec. 30, traffic cones were laid out throughout the day, blocking parking spaces from the corner of Center Street and Main Street to the storefront of Special Tees at 57 Main St.
Unable to find marketplace offers.
“It’s a hundred-year-old valve, and it just wouldn’t close all the way,” said Livingston. “Water maintenance and service resumed as usual in our buildings on Main Street, it was just causing a little water flow on the side of the road.”
By 11:10 A.M. Dec. 31, parking continued as normal, with only the filled-in asphalt pit still blocked in by cones, to be removed later.
