Celebrate Earth Day 2023 with CCE Tioga.

Join us on Saturday April 22nd from 11am – 1 pm at Candor High School for a Community Event. Light refreshments will be provided. Each attendee will receive some free seeds for spring planting. CCE Tioga is headquartered in Candor on a 107-acre farm named Hilltop Community Farm (HCF). Since the farm was purchased in 2021, we have worked to make HCF an asset for the entire region. Learn about all
the ways to enjoy the property through various hands-on educational tours and workshops. We envision a space where all feel welcome to come and enjoy.
Highlights of Hilltop Community Farm include:
• Gardening workshops in composting, medicinal herbs, edible nuts and berries, growing mushrooms,
hügelkultur, seed-starting, pruning, grafting, starting an orchard, perennials, and soil health
• Workforce Development apprenticeships in agriculture and clean energy jobs
• Family Resource activities at our new Nature Playscape
• 4-H natural resources programs; farm safety; small engine repair
• Beginning farmer incubator program for vegetable crops and small ruminants
• Hiking, fishing, exploring nature, self-guided activities
• Farmer educational pasture walks on forage and grazing best practices
• Farm safety use of chainsaws and fire prevention
• Greenhouse and High tunnel space available for local growers
• SMART Heating and Energy information and demonstrations
• Animal science demonstrations in chicken egg incubation and animal handling
• Indoor arena/event space and classroom available for use
• Introductory walking tours
• Yoga and meditation
• Cooking and preserving food classes
• Volunteer opportunities in pizza garden planting, wood-fired oven cob construction; woodworking
