Goodwill of the Finger Lakes has opened a new store in Canandaigua on May 27, at 9 a.m. Over 200 people were line waiting for the store to open. This will be the tenth store opened in the local area. The Canandaigua City School District voters approved a $88.3 million budget for the 2023-2024 school year, including two propositions for transportation and vehicle purchases. Seventy-two percent of the voters approved the budget (Proposition One) , with 907 voting for the budget and 350 voting against. On Tuesday, May 16, voters in the Geneseo Central School District passed a $24,223,237 budget proposal for the 2023-24 school year by a vote of 407 (yes) to 85 (no). Residents also approved the purchase of three diesel-powered 77-passenger buses by a vote of 397 (yes) to 94 (no). In the Tuesday May 16 school board budget vote and school board election, the Avon Central School Budget, as well as the additional propositions, passed by a large margin. Constellation Energy Generation’s R.E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant will perform a test of its public notification system at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 2. A smash and grab at Filer Power Sports in Macedon netted thieves $75,000-83,000 worth of dirt bikes and other equipment at a early morning heist on Tuesday, March 28. According to police, video shows a truck was used to ram open a side door, causing damage enough for 7 people to jump out of the truck, and run in and grab the merchandise. Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on March 29, 2023, deputies of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office arrested Lewis J. Wisor, age 23, of Derby Hill Road, Addison, New York, following an investigation of a reported rape in Troupsburg.
