An 18-year old man, Emmanuel Hershberger, drowned Thursday, June 1, shortly after 1:30 p.m., as he swam in a pond with his family. Family members said he was swimming with another family member, seemed to have some difficulty swimming, then went under water, and never resurfaced. Groveland’s “Flats” Rd. Closed for Weekend
The New York State Transportation Department reports that Flats Rd. in Groveland (Rt.258) will be closed for the weekend. The alert was issued on Friday, April 7, at 1:30 p.m. due to flooding. The area of flooding on Rt. 258 is between Rt. 36 and 63. At present, there are no detours and traffic in the area has slowed to less than 20 miles per hour. Leicester Man Arrested for Forgery, Larceny, Fugitive from Justice
A Leicester man, Nicholas L. Dilal, 47, was arrested by the Livingston County Sheriff's Department on March 17 after it was determined he was a fugitive from justice with an active warrant from Tennessee, as well as local theft and forgery charges. Dansville’s Castle On Hill on Fire
In a post on the Dansville Fire Department Facebook page, it was noted on March 18 that Dansville's famous "Castle On the Hill", the former Bernarr McFadden Sanitorium, is on fire.
