LIVINGSTON COUNTY – An Avon man was arraigned on Rape charges at the county courthouse Tuesday morning for the alleged sexual abuse of his female foster child under age 17.
This is the second time within 9 years that Richard Cassada, 61, has been accused of sexual abuse of his children.
Cassada was arraigned on three charges, Rape in the Third Degree, an E felony, Criminal Sex Act in the Third Degree, an E felony, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, an A misdemeanor, and District Attorney Greg McCaffrey presented an offer of 1 1/2 years in state prison, 10 years post-release supervision, and another registration with the Sex Offender Registration Act (SORA).
DA McCaffrey said that another SORA registration would likely mean that Cassada would be considered a level 3, or at maximum risk to re-offend.
Cassada is currently being represented by J. Matthew Parrinello, but indicated that he may change representation in the future.
A complete stayaway order of protection was signed in favor of the alleged victim, who no longer lives with Cassada.
Cassada also has a 2006 conviction for Sex Abuse for which he spent 90 days in jail and was ordered to register as a level 2 sex offender, or at moderate risk to re-offend.
Cassada’s bail was maintained at $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond. He is currently bailed out of jail.
