GENESEO – A vehicle struck and injured a SUNY Geneseo student Thursday night at the crosswalk on Mary Jemison Drive.

According to Geneseo Police Chief Eric Osganian, the accident occurred at 7 p.m. when the driver, SUNY Geneseo student Chris Cummins, 21, from Miller Place, NY, was eastbound on Mary Jemison when he struck Anna Moggia-Palzer, 18, New York, NY.

“The driver stated that he didn’t see the pedestrian until it was too late,” said Osganian. “The driver was very cooperative.”

Investigating officers say that Moggia-Palzer was in the crosswalk at the time of the accident.

Geneseo Police ticketed Cummins for Failure to Yield to a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk.

She told first responders that she had leg, shoulder and head pain and was transported to NOYES Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Firefighters and an ambulance crew with Geneseo Fire and Ambulance responded to the scene alongside Geneseo Police and SUNY Geneseo Police.
