Car Explodes in Dansville Attached Garage

DANSVILLE – Firefighters saved a house on Deer Park Drive after a car apparently exploded in an attached garage Saturday afternoon.

According to a Facebook post by Dansville Fire Chief Glenn Camuto to the Dansville Fire Department, a car exploded inside an attached garage. An emergency call came to the Dansville Fire Department at about 2:41 p.m.

“As Chief of the Dansville Fire Dept I was very proud of the hard work and actions conducted today by the men and women at the scene,” posted Camuto. “Due to their hard work the house was saved. I’m also grateful to be working with our neighboring depts who also did a fantastic job. Thank to all involved JOB WELL DONE.”

The first firefighters to arrive at the scene reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage and asked for more fire departments to respond.

“The crew started a fast and aggresive interior attack containing the fire to the garage area,” posted Camuto.

Camuto posted that fire departments from Wayland, Sparta and Nunda responded. The West Sparta Fire Department filled in at Dansville’s hall while their equipment was at the scene.
