The Cancer Services Program of the Finger Lakes Region (CSP-FLR), managed and facilitated by the Center for Community Health & Prevention of the University of Rochester Medical Center, provides breast, colorectal and cervical cancer screenings and diagnostic services to eligible men and women without health insurance in Monroe, Livingston, Wayne, Seneca, Yates and Ontario Counties.
Some of the screening rate data from the New York State Department of Health includes:
· In Monroe County, between 18 and 20 percent of women are not screened for cervical cancer. In Livingston County, between 6.9 and 13.3 percent of women are not getting cervical cancer screenings.
· In both counties, 15.7 to 25 percent of adults are not screened for colorectal cancer.
· In Monroe and Livingston Co., between 11.8 and 18.2 percent of adults are not screened for breast cancer.
More than 80 percent of these data include men and women in both counties who fall under the CSP-FLR priority populations.
Those in need of cancer screenings who are uninsured can call the Cancer Services Program of the Finger Lakes Region at (585) 224-3070 to confirm eligibility and enroll in the program.
