GENESEO — Earlier this week, the Geneseo Merchants Association met for their monthly meeting. In attendance was Lisa Burns, of the Livingston County Chamber of Commerce, who discussed new plans for her Buy Local Campaign.
At the heart of Burns’ campaign is her program, Find It In LivINgston. When it comes to supporting local business, Burns stresses the importance of reaching the public, which is the main goal of the program. With a full directory of local shops and services on the website, Find It in LivINgston was designed to make consuming locally even more accessible. Find It In LivINgston also offers a range of ways to involve the community, such as raffles for gift certificates and consumer surveys.

After last year’s successful holiday season, Burns hopes to improve upon the program even more. Her focus is still on public relations, as she plans to use social media, radio, billboard ads and promotional merchandise to spread her message. A few new ideas included a pre-loaded “Shop In LivINgston” credit card, as well as a the possibility of a TV commercial, which would cost roughly $500 to produce.
With all of these plans for community outreach, Burns and the GMA are expecting another year of success for Find It In LivINgston, and in turn, local business.
