Camp Stella Maris, on LivoniaS’ East Lake Rd. is making plans to reopen as a children’s summer camp in June 2021.
The 90-year history of the lakeside SUMMER camp was suspended last year and took a turn in activities last summer, due to Covid 19 restrictions. Last summer, cabins were rented out to families, and the use of the camp by children sent there by parents was suspended.
With the announcement of its reopening for kids this week, in keeping with NYS summer camp reopening rules, several weeks of the camp are already fully booked, particularly in August. Field trips and sleepover Fridays for the day camps are cancelled due to Covid restrictions, but there activity themes for each of the weeks for the day camp, which is open as a day camp for children ages 5-12, and as an overnight camp for ages 7-15. (There are two-week overnight sessions for leaders-in-training and counselors-in-training.) All children take part in activities covering Adventure, Arts and Nature, Ballfield, Spiritual, and Waterfront, with a typical scheduled day of Morning Show Wakes Up Camp. Breakfast in Peggy’s café, morning activity such as crafts, wall-climbing, pottery, makerspace, or archery, lunch, rest hour, mass or God Time (3 days a week), open waterfront, dinner open ballfield, night program, night prayers and flashlight time.
