CALEDONIA – A Rochester man was found deceased in his tree stand in Caledonia, just within the northern border of Livingston County, on Sunday.
According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, the Monroe County 911 center received a report of a hunter found deceased in a tree stand, and a medical examiner determined that the death was due to natural causes.

The hunter was a 55 year old Rochester resident. The family requested that he not be identified.
On Dec. 6 at around 5 p.m., Monroe County 911 received a call for a hunter found dead in his tree stand in a woods off Maxwell Station Road at the Livingston County border with Monroe County.
The death was investigated extensively on scene by Livingston County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Department of Environmental Conservation Police Officers with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).
Assisting the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and DEC with the investigation was the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Livingston County Coroners Office and the Monroe County Medical Examiners Office. Also assisting on scene was Caledonia Fire, EMS and ALS, Mumford Fire and EMS, Clifton Fire and EMS, Rush Fire and EMS and Scottsville Fire and EMS.
