CALEDONIA – A public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday for anyone interested in the Village’s Comprehensive Plan, which is pending a vote by the Village Board will influence changes in Village laws and regulations as well as funding decisions and other Village actions during the next 10 to 15 years.
On Sept. 23 at 7:00 p.m., all interested parties are invited to attend a Public Information Meeting at the Village Office, 3095 Main Street, Caledonia, NY, to review a draft Comprehensive Plan for the Village of Caledonia. A formal Public Hearing will take place prior to adoption of the plan.
According to the Comprehensive Plan, which is available in its entirety here, the goal here is to maintain a harmonious balance of residential neighborhoods, commercial districts, industrial development and natural resource conservation.
Among many other things, the thorough and specific recommendations of this plan include implementing a building renovation program, enhancing the aesthetics and safety of Downtown by implementing traffic calming measures, codifying the Design Guidelines developed by the Livingston Downtown Partnership by tailoring them for Caledonia, considering adopting a Historic Preservation Ordinance that applies to the Downtown area, considering establishing a Downtown Special Assessment District or Business
Improvement District, obtaining funding for stormwater improvements around Caledonia Commons and other
sections of downtown, establishing a list of vacant downtown space that can be shared with the Livingston County
Development Office and the Downtown Partnership, establishing an Incubator Program for underutilized and vacant spaces, making the vacant site on Technology Place ‘Shovel Ready,’ and establishing a list of vacant industrial and commercial space that can be shared with the
Livingston County Development Office and the Downtown Partnership.
