CALEDONIA — For history buffs and construction lovers C.P. Ward’s fully restored 1925 Selden Truck is a true work of art.
The 1925 Selden replicates the only Selden truck in an iconic photo of C. P. Ward’s fleet from the 1920’s, the company has been in the construction business for over 100 years.
“Like the old saying goes, ‘if you ignore history you’re bound to beat it.’ We must always be mindful of how we got to where we are and to make sure we don’t repeat the mistakes of the past,” said Dick Ash, Chairman of C.P. Ward. “Our restored 1925 Selden dump truck is a constant reminder that we must always remember that the hard work and successes of years gone by have helped bring us to where we are today.”
George Seldon was a patent lawyer and an inventor who started the Selden Motor Vehicle Company in Rochester, and owned a controversial engine patent.
The restored Selden was obtained in 2014 from Underground Atlanta where Livingston Associates mechanics quickly got to work bringing to it’s present pristine condition.
“We are very fortunate to have a great team of talented people who have a wide range of talents which are shown in the quality of the restoration of this truck. Obviously it’s not something you do on a daily basis at a construction company, and a lot of people stepped up to make this come together,” said Rob Lathan, Equipment Manager of C.P. Ward, Inc. who oversaw the restoration of the Selden Truck. “Everyone is proud of their contribution to making this one of a kind truck showpiece.”
