LIVINGSTON COUNTY – An inmate at the Livingston County Jail was hospitalized on Sunday from an altercation in the jail bathrooms.
According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, inmate Brian Strapp, 31, was arrested on Monday for Assault in the Second Degree, a class D Felony.
On Sunday at about 5:45 p.m., Deputies responded to a call for a fight in C-Dorm. It was learned that an inmate had been assaulted and needed to be transported to the hospital for medical attention.
After an investigation by on-duty Corrections staff and Criminal Investigator Jeff Wiedrick, it was learned that a fight had occurred in the jail bathroom, where the inmate was found injured.
According to jail records, Strapp was originally arrested in September 2014 on Petit Larceny charges and was held on $2,500 bail or $5,000 bond.
Strapp was arraigned on his new charges in front of Judge Bushnell in Geneseo Village Court. Strapp was remanded back to the Livingston County Jail on $1,500 cash bail $3,000 bond in addition to his Petit Larceny charges.
