Bruised 4-Year-Old Leads to Assault Charges for Couple

LIVONIA – A local couple is behind bars on felony charges for allegedly assaulting a 4-year-old.

According to a press release from Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Stephanie Jason-Whisman and Anthony Pabone were both arrested for felony Assault in the Second Degree and misdemeanor Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation regarding a check the welfare of a four-year-old who had not shown up for day care. Day care employees were concerned for the child’s safety, reporting that the child had noticeable bruising the day prior.

The investigation concluded that Jason-Whisman and Pabone had assaulted the child, leaving multiple bruises. Members of the Sheriff’s Office took both into custody.

This joint investigation was conducted by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, the Forensic Identification Unit, and the Livingston County Department of Social Services.

Both were turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. The District Attorney’s Office was recommended that bail be set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond for each.

Livonia Town Justice Margaret Graf-Linsner arraigned both subjects and remanded them both to the custody of the Sheriff on $7,500 cash or $15,000 bond.
