On March 25, 2019, the New York State Police Campus Sexual Assault Victims Unit and The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (SP Rochester) arrested David L. Castaneda of Brockport, NY for Criminal Sexual Act 1st degree, a class B felony, for an incident that occurred in the town of Sweden in October of 2018. Castaneda was also charged with 12 counts of Falsifying a Business Record 2nd degree for filing false records with SUNY Brockport.

Castaneda, a registered level 2 sex offender, had forcible sexual contact with a victim after falsely posing as a SUNY Brockport student on social media. Castaneda may also be known as David Castaneda Trejo or David James.
Castaneda was arraigned at the town of Sweden Court and remanded to the Monroe County Jail on $25,000 cash / $50,000 bond.
State Police were assisted in the case by SUNY Brockport Police, the New York State Intelligence Center and the village of Brockport Police Department.
