AVON — After a back-and-forth match that saw both teams have a chance to win at the end, Avon edged out Cal-Mum in volleyball, Wednesday night, in the decisive fifth set.
The Lady Raiders took the first game 25-18 after being down early. In the second game, the Lady Braves took an early lead before the Lady Raiders cut their lead to 21-17, but the Lady Braves prevailed 25-17.
Game three saw Lady Raiders’ senior Jacquie Carson lead the team with three straight aces early en route to a 25-14 win. Game four had multiple lead changes and was tied at 21, but the Lady Braves scored four straight points to take it 25-21.
In the final game, the Lady Braves went up 14-10 early, then the Lady Raiders came back to make it 15-14. The lead continued to change until it was 24-24. The Lady Braves went on to score the next two points to win the game and match.
Cal-Mum (7-7) will host Warsaw on Friday in their next game.
