GENESEO – The Geneseo Blue Devils earned the second win of the season with a 2-0 victory at home against the Avon Braves Tuesday afternoon.
The Blue Devils controlled the game from the outset and did not let up. Junior Miguel Valencia scored the first goal for the Blue Devils, assisted by junior Danny Cannon. Cannon went on to score the second goal for the Blue Devils early in the second half. Avon’s goalie, junior Brandon Gingher, recorded a noteworthy 18 saves on the night.
“The team played outplayed Avon the entire game, and Avon’s defense and keeper did a a great job of keeping us from scoring more than 2 goals,” said coach Chris Masters. “Our defense played great, rarely allowing Avon to possess the ball in our half of the field.”
The Blue Devils are now 2-2-0 on the season with a perfect 2-0-0 record in league competition. The Braves are now 0-3-1 overall with a 0-2-1 league record.
The Blue Devils next match will be away at Keshequa on Thursday, September 18 at 6:30p.m.
