WARSAW — The York Golden Knights defeated the Warsaw Tigers 44-29 Wednesday night, in a defensive matchup.
Tyler Shutts, Nick Curry, and Andrew Short showed their senior leadership offensively and defensively. Shutts finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds, Curry 10 points and 6 rebounds, and Short with 9 points and 10 rebounds.
“Offensively we didn’t have the best night,” Short said. “What really won us the game was our defense, holding them (Warsaw) under 30 points.”
The game was a close battle the whole night. The Knights lead only by eight ending the third quarter. Short sparked a 19-0 run with seven consecutive points in the fourth quarter.
“I just happened to be the open man,” Short said. “My teammates did a great job of getting me the ball.”
The Knights (3-1) will be preparing for the classic SUNY Showdown, at SUNY Geneseo, battling the undefeated (4-0) Geneseo Blue Devils.
