Right away the Blue Devils came out ready to hit with numerous players contributing such as Cory Valentine who went 2-4 with a double, and a triple while also recording 2 RBI’s and 3 runs scored. Brian Linton also went 2-4 with a home run and 2 RBI’s in the game.
“It was great to see the bats start to come alive” said Head Coach Nick Drollete. “Eight different guys got hits for us tonight and it’s been a long time since we’ve been able to say that. We went into the season with a number of goals and one of those was to win the division. The boys knew going into this game that the win would clinch the division. I was worried about a bit of a let down and playing tight but Ryan led off with a triple and you could see the guys sort of relax. Ryan, Cory, Blake and Jake are really important to this program. This was their third straight Division III title and they’ve been crucial to all three of those.”
Blue Devil’s Pitcher Sean Kelly pitched a great game going for 5 innings while recording 8 strikeouts and giving up only 1 run.
The Blue Devils look to continue their success in their next game tomorrow against Hornell.
