GENESEO–The Geneseo Blue Devils defeated the Pavilion Golden Gophers in an astonishing 17-1 victory in their first home game of the year.
The Blue Devils came out firing on all cylinders from the start of the game. Starting Pitcher Parker Burnette pitched 6 innings and shut down the Golden Gophers offensively holding them to 1 run while finishing with at total 12 strikeouts.
“We hope to continue our good defense and be able to hold our opponents to a few runs,” said Head Coach Nick Drollette. “In our one loss in the season we gave up a lot of runs, as you can see when we don’t give up a lot of runs we win games.”
The Blue Devils offense consistently got clutch hits from the start of the game opening up their first inning at bat with 5 runs. Parker Burnette contributed going 3-3 with 4 RBI’s, while Outfielder Jameson Moran contributed with 2 hits and 2 RBI’s.
The Blue Devils closed out the game scoring 10 runs in the final inning of play before the game was called. The Blue Devils look forward to continuing their success in their upcoming game tomorrow against Perry/Mount Morris at Geneseo High School.
